A sudden burst of Sodexho "green-ness"
Sodexho and Colorado College Sustainability Grants:
At Sodexho we are charged with 'making every day a better day', and what
better way to accomplish this than to provide funding to address issues of
sustainability here at CC. Sodexho Campus Dining Services is pleased to
announce that we will award a total of $8,000 grants to students, faculty or
staff of The Colorado College during the 2007-2008 academic year to help with
one of the college's core values of "nurturing a sense of place and an ethic
of environmental sustainability". The amount of the grants will depend on the
projects and funding requested and the committee will determine how to divide
the $8,000 among the grant recipients. These grants may be used in areas such
as but not limited to; to further research, purchase equipment to enhance
sustainability, or to support an educational campaign on sustainability.
The Process:
Students, Faculty and Staff are encouraged to participate. All applications
should include the name (or names), addresses, phone numbers and email
addresses of all the people participating in the project. The application
should clearly define the project, target audience, scope of work to be
completed, detailed time line for the project including full completion,
anticipated budget, and projected outcome and sustainability benefit.
Deadline:
The deadline for grant submission will be the last day of Block III. All
submissions must be delivered via email to Shawn.Finnegan@SodexhoUSA.com no
later than 5:00 PM on November 21, 2007.
Review and Award:
The grants will be reviewed by a 7 member team including: Shawn Finnegan,
General Manger for Sodexho Dining; Jeff Lougee, Sodexho District Manager;
Chris Melcher, Colorado College Legal Counsel and Business Manager; Bruce
Coriell, Colorado College Chaplin; Howard Drossman, Director of Environmental
Science, along with two Colorado College Students.
The awards will be announced no later than the end of Block IV, and winners
will be notified by email and on both the Colorado College Sodexho Dining
Services web site and The Colorado College web site.
Evaluations:
The decision of the committee will be final and based on the following
criteria:
- Organization and clarity of the proposal
- Tangible results of the proposal
- Benefits to CC and the Colorado Springs community
- Timeline for accomplishment
- Demonstrated ability to carry out the project
- Amount of grant desired
Grants will not be awarded for proposals or projects already in progress or
completed.
