LGRT Outcome

Hi all,

The Leadership GRT proved to be somewhat of a good/tough process, and at this point I'd like to update everyone on the purpose, process, and progress of the LGRT.

PURPOSE:
To bring together the leaders of the campus green groups to represent the green student body and form an "asking" committee to the administration on sustainability issues that we see as outstretching the scope or responsibility of any one green group.

PROCESS:
We gather to whittle down these larger issues into three categories:
-Resolutions, which are "asks"
-Supports, which are a way of showing a thumbs-up to the admin. on processes that are already underway
-Recognitions, which are thank-yous or shout-outs to members of the admin./staff that have done great work

When the Resolutions, Supports, and Recognitions are decided, the LGRT drafts them up in a formal document to send through the Sustainability Coordinator to the appropriate members of the admin. with the invitation to read the document, and then meet with the LGRT to discuss the issues at hand. Hopefully from this meeting the admin. and the students will not only be on the same page, but also be excited about working together on the issues that the LGRT has specified.

PROGRESS:
The issues we've specified this fall are:
The Food Service/Sodexho Bid
Getting a Full-Time Sustainability Coordinator position created post-Bruce
Changing out the Vehicle Fleet

We will be drafting the formal document starting this block break, and will hopefully be meeting with members of the admin. by the end of 3rd block.

That's the news for now-- have a fine time over the break and unplug everything while you're gone!

Best,
EnAct co-chairs
