Hi folks,
Positions abound, these days. Besides a green rep needed for the CCCA council, three new student positions have been created in Communications for Sustainability Interns. This is your chance to get paid for the work you've been doing in the past- and to get sustainability fully recognized on campus. Here is the job description and contact info if you're interested:
-----
YOU have ideas to make CC a more sustainable place.
WE have job openings for three sustainability interns, AND funding to achieve mutual project goals.
Sustainability Intern. The office of communications is seeking committed student partners to help make Colorado College more sustainable. This is a paid internship. Our goal is to facilitate positive environmental change at the college. This will be a collaborative effort with other individuals and groups on campus. Your ideas and passions count for a lot in a collective effort to engage other students, faculty and staff.
This is a great opportunity for a self-starter with a strong interest in sustainability coupled with dependable follow-through. You should expect to work primarily in teams, with some opportunities to pursue independent projects.
Under the auspices of the office of communications, you will have the flexibility to address a wide range of issues that impact environmental sustainability on campus. Approximately half of your time will be for projects assigned by the office of communications, having to do with research of particular issues, education of campus constituencies regarding sustainable practices, working with interns in compatible areas (e.g. State of the Rockies, KRCC) and on special projects (e.g. possible development of a sustainability report card for the college). The remainder of your time will be for projects initiated by the team of interns or yourself, working along the lines of making a proposal for a project that supports making CC more environmentally sustainable, creating a budget, securing approval and following through to achieve your goals.
The Office of Communications will also fund attendance at selected conferences.
The internships will be mentored by Jen Kulier (director of publications) and Karen To (director of new media/web editor), who are both on the Sustainability Council. You will work with others in the office of communications, and should see this department (including KRCC), and its multiple areas of expertise, as a readily available resource to advise and assist projects.
Hourly rate: $8.50
Must be able to commit to working 8 hours per week on average (taking into account the “seasonal” time demands of the block plan).
The internships will start at the beginning of Block 2.
Please contact Jen Kulier (jkulier@coloradocollege.edu) if interested.
Best,
Katie
